Carter G. Woodson
The forerunner to Black History Month - Negro History Week, was created by Carter G. Woodson in 1926, Dr. Woodson, chose the second week of February to celebrate Negro History. This week was chosen to pay homage to the birthdays of Frederick Douglass (2/14) and Abraham Lincoln (2/12).
My small, but much loved Mar-crest Daisy Dot collection.
A collection started by my maternal grandmother (Mom Esther) in the 1960's.
